how to download iWork tutorials

I just came across the iWork tutorials on Apple website.

As I am a commuter, it would be really convenient to have them downloaded in my computer.

ethics in advertising - thing of a past

Advertising is becoming more and more controversial. Few years ago, many people would be shocked if a TV-spot or billboard showed a woman without part of her underwear, let alone a naked breast... Now, nobody really cares. Well, some people do, but in general, the border of what public considers acceptable is moving higher and higher.
This trend is making me glad. We are getting more liberal, less prudent, more mature, less protected and protective, and... yes, more strong, as news on TV often provide us with very naturalistic spots depicting wounds and accidents. Few years ago, people would get sick seeing them. We can bear more now... partly thanks to media and advertising.
But how long is this trend going to continue? Where is the final frontier it is not going to cross? And is there any? Today, we recieved a "postcard-spam" with the following text and picture:

Believe it or not, the product this postcard should be promoting is a set of educational CDs for businessmen and managers. If you don't believe me, just check out their website.

The text next to the picture sais:

"Joe was your competitor, who has just cut his veins.
He found out, that you have
The instinct of a killer and he couldn't bear
the weight of your success. This success
has came thanks to your new approach towards business
according to
www.instinktzabijaka.sk*"

It still gives me shivers... Who can order such product, or who wants their competitors to actually commit suicide? Yes, business life is not about singing lullabys to each other. But hasn't this come too far?

What shall we await next? A photo of one businessman killing another? Video with a murder?

While I wanted to report this advertisment as immoral at www.rpr.sk (the national board for advertising), I found out that the form didn't work... But quality of IT in public institutions is another topic that could be worth writing about...

filelight: how to clean up unnecessary files to get more free space (linux, gentoo)

Ever had the problem, that harddisk on your linux machine has just filled up and you couldn't find out what files took so much space? The Czech magazine linuxexpres wrote about a great tool to determine the folders that take up most space. It's called filelight and it analyzes the size of all the files on the harddisk and draws a picture consiting of rings that helps you reveal nests of unneeded temporary files or overgrown backups...
